Collaborated with KCL ASEAN for a keynote speech event in collaboration with AUBF under Dato Lingam on the 15th of March, 2019.

11th Jun - AUBF in attendance at the Philippines’ 120th Independence Day at the Langham Hotel, London.

AUBF participated at the World Chinese Economic Summit 2018 London Regional Roundtable Meeting - UK with China in ASEAN: Post Brexit organised by ASLI where AUBF’s Aimee moderated the Panel Discussion: “Benefiting from BRI - How Britain, China and ASEAN can collaborate on BRI?” held at the House of Lords.

AUBF collaborated with the prestigious Cambridge University South East Asian Society in the inaugural Cambridge University Southeast Asian Conference (CUSEAC) which was held at Cambridge University. Our President Datuk (Sir) SK.lingam delivered the officiating address on the "Empowerment of the ASEAN Youths" and the Philippines Ambassador delivered the Keynote Speech.

4th Feb - Datuk (Sir) SK. Lingam (SK) gave a brief talk to an ice-breaking and dialogue session to ASEAN students and youths from ASEANITE (formerly known as ASEAN Young Professional) at the Malaysia Hall. AUBF sponsored this event where forty ASEAN students from different Universities attended the session.
18 Feb - AUBF participated in the annual Warwick University Asean Conference held at the University of Warwick. AUBF initiated this conference together with the Warwick University Asean Society in 2015. The event attracted about 400 to 500 delegates where AUBF conducted an ASEAN related workshop at the event.
AUBF attended the 2nd Warwick ASEAN Conference. This event was supported by AUBF & SK offered ongoing advice & guidance to the Warwick ASEAN students committee. Both AUBF’s as well as SK's role was acknowledged by the Chair of the Warwick Asean event in his welcoming remarks.

AUBF supported the ASEAN Young Professionals Network (AYPN) organise a conference in Singapore called "Finance ASEAN".

13-16 April - AUBF co-partnered with Dr Thum Ping Tjin, (PJ) Research
Fellow and Coordinator of Project Southeast Asia, in Oxford University’s 5th South East Asian (SEA) Studies Symposium and festival of SEA in Oxford. The SEA Studies Symposium (SEASS) is the world’s largest and most influential conference on Southeast Asia with this year's theme: “Human and Environmental Welfare in Southeast Asia”.


The year also marked the maiden launch of SEASS’s specialised sub-fora: The Southeast Asia Investment Forum, which aims to engage businesses with an interest in the region in issues including the ASEAN Economic Community, healthcare, and political risk; and the Southeast Asia Strategic Forum on Women, Business, and Economic Development, which tackles gender equality in Southeast Asia. Aimee, representing AUBF and the Philippines was one of the speakers in the latter forum.


18 April - AUBF participated in roundtable discussions with ASEAN diaspora communities on May elections and the EU Referendum organised by the ASEAN Liberal Democrats and Merlene Toh Emerson.

Datuk Sk met with the LSE ASEAN SOCIETY (ASEAN Students) to form a synergy with AUBF. One of the areas for collaboration is for Datuk SK to conduct talks on ASEAN to the students.
AUBF continues to form a working synergy with GenCorp (Student Organisation), ASEAN Young Professionals Network (AYPN) & ASEAN Minds (AM). AUBF plans to do other ASEAN Students and Youth focused events for the rest of the year.
AUBF in tandem with the ASEAN Young Professionals Network (AYPN) organised an essay competition entitled "Shaping ASEAN: Shaping Tomorrow's ASEAN Essay and Quote Competition".
11 March - AUBF supported Young Asean Minds’ (YAM) event with Tan Sri Tony Fernandes at Park City Grand Plaza Kensington Hotel.
15 March - AUBF supported the event organised by Young Indonesian
Professionals Association (YIPA) at the Indonesian Embassy in Mayfair London.

AUBF (as represented by SK) at the vin d’honneur (farewell reception) for the outgoing Indonesian Ambassador. AUBF (as represented by SK, Aimee and Chloris) also attended the vin d’honneur (farewell reception) of the outgoing Philippine Ambassador.

21st Feb - AUBF supported and participated in the 2nd Warwick ASEAN
Conference held at Warwick 
University.
22nd and 23rd Feb - SK (Malaysia), Khanh (Vietnam), Yue Jin (Singapore), Aimee (Philippines), Mirna (Indonesia ) made courtesy calls on the Brunei as well as the Malaysian High Commissioner and the Myanmar Embassy where we met the Minister Counsellor. AUBF together with the above-mentioned embassies and high commissions affirmed the commitment of working together to promote ASEAN.
24th Feb - AUBF attended Brunei National Day at the Dorchester Hotel.

AUBF together with GenCorp organised a talk entitled "; ASEAN briefing & the Empowerment of the ASEAN youth"; Datuk SK. Lingam delivered the Keynote speech on the theme. The event was attended by well over 110 ASEAN students & youth with 3 ASEAN Ambassadors in attendance, with representatives from all the remaining ASEAN Embassies.


The event was held at the Lim Kok Wing University, London in the esteemed presence of the Chairman of the ASEAN Ambassadors London Committee (ALC), H.E. the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam, Dato Haji Amuniddin. Both the Indonesian Ambassador and the High Commissioner of Malaysia, as well as Ambassador representatives from all the other ASEAN Embassies, were also in attendance.

AUBF collaborated and organised with Asia Strategic Leadership Institute (ASLI) and Malaysian Link UK, an ASEAN Event with a country focus; Malaysia- UK Forum”. The Malaysian High Commissioner, His Excellency Dato Ahmad Rasidi Hazizzi were in attendance and the keynote speech was delivered by The Honourable Dato Mah Siew Keong, Minister in the Malaysian Prime Ministers Department.

AUBF supported and participated in the Securing Asia 2015 conference at The Harte & Garter Hotel, Eton, Windsor. This event focused on six core areas such as:
- Smart Cities – challenges for developing countries,

- Smart Grids including grid security among others,

- Water and waste management, waste heat/waste to energy,
- Energy efficiency including the creation of a marketplace for trading energy efficiency certificates, renewable energy and energy storage and

- Safe and Resilient Cities, Smart Transportation and Mobility.

AUBF assisted and supported the organisation of the 1st Warwick ASEAN Conference in Warwick University. President Datuk SK was a panel speaker in one of the sessions.

AUBF organised with the London School of Economics (LSE), an ASEAN event themed, "Is ASEAN Still Relevant?”.

AUBF was one of the supporting organisations of a two-day Emerging Markets event in London organised by The Economist Conference. We had two ASEAN leaders, President of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand delivering addresses at this event.

AUBF hosted the GEMS 2009 in collaboration with Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI) www.asli.com.my .
The Malaysian Minister of Trade and Finance Minister of Vietnam were the keynote speakers. The Secretary-General of UNCTAD His Excellency Dr.Supachai Panitchpakdi who is a staunch supporter of AUBF delivered the closing address.

Participated in “ONE WORLD WEEK - ASIA DAY” at Shoreham-by-Sea organised by Global Affairs and supported by South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and the ASEAN UK Business Forum (AUBF).
The speeches were delivered by H.E. Yuri Octavian Thamrin, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia and Dr. Yuri Octavian Thamrin, MA.

AUBF jointly hosted the Global Emerging Markets Summit (GEMS) 2008 at the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall, London. The Keynote Speech was delivered by:
Her Excellency Madam Fu Ying Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China.

AUBF in collaboration with Chatham House hosted a Dialogue Session with the deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, The Hon. Najib Razak.

 

The AUBF 10th Anniversary event held on the 23rd February 2008. The event was hosted at the Embassy of Vietnam by the Vietnamese Ambassador.

AUBF organised an ASEAN Seminar at the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). The Deputy Chief of Mission, Philippines delivered a speech on the theme, "ASEAN: The New Powerhouse".

AUBF hosted a luncheon reception for the ASEAN Secretary-General H.E Ong Keng Yong together with the ASEAN Ambassadors at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, London.

AUBF organised a breakfast meeting at KPMG in which Professor Robert Taylor, Senior Research Associate at the Institute of South East Asia, Singapore was a panel speaker.

AUBF together with South East Asia Link (SEAL) organised an ASEAN event in Stoke on Trent in which the guest of Honour was H.E Edgardo Espiritu, the Ambassador of the Philippines.

AUBF organised an ASEAN- UK Friendship Golf Tournament.

AUBF together with the Vietnam Embassy organised a "Vietnam Seminar" and the guest of honour was H.E Nguyen Van An, the President of Vietnam National Embassy and Ms. Susan Haird, Deputy Chief Executive, UKTI.

From 2005 - 2008

AUBF staged the "Doha Round" at the Claridges Hotel, Mayfair, London at which the guest speaker was Dr. Supachai, Director General of World Trade Organisation.
The event was sponsored by Clifford Chance and BMW. The event preceded with a luncheon reception hosted for the VIPs, by AUBF at the Gordon Ramsay Restaurant, Claridges.

A photograph of the event was published in AUBF's first issue newsletter- "ASEAN BRIEF"- Summer 2005.

AUBF organised high profile events in which speeches were given by The Secretary of Trade and Industry of Philippines the Rt. Hon. Peter B.
Favila; The Mayor of Hanoi; and The Minister of Investment and Planning of Vietnam.
AUBF also supported and participated in several events in which addresses were given by HIS Royal Highness the Duke of York at St James' Palace; President of the Philippines Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal- Arroyoyo and the Vice-President of Indonesia His Excellency Jusuf Kalla.

AUBF organised a talk by the Malaysian Minister of Trade and Industry, The Rt. Hon. Rafidh Aziz.

AUBF organised a seminar "ASEAN in the context of the World Trade, Investment & Tourism"; at which the speakers were:
H.E Dr, Supachai Panitchpakdi - Director General Designate, World Trade Organisation; Mr.Charles Bridge- Director Trade Policy, UK Department of Trade and Industry H.E Professor Pang Eng Fong- High Commissioner of Singapore.

AUBF hosted an evening reception to mark AUBF's third anniversary which was hosted by the Philippines Ambassador at the Philippine Embassy. A photograph of the event was published in AUBF's first issue newsletter- "ASEAN BRIEF". The event was attended by the British corporate sector.

AUBF together with the Malaysian United Kingdom Association (MUKA) hosted a luncheon talk reception for the Prime Miniter of Malaysia, The Rt. Hon. Dato Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohammad. The event was held at the Intercontinental Hotel, Park Lane, London. A photograph of the event was published in AUBF's first issue newsletter- "ASEAN BRIEF".

Breakfast meeting with ASEAN Secretary-General, Rudolfo Severino Jr, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. This first historic event was hosted by AUBF in the presence of all the ASEAN Ambassadors and High Commissioners to the Court of St James'.
